We may have heard about UI/UX a lot but not many of us are completely aware about the importance of using UI/UX when designing mobile applications. Before exploring them in detail, let’s get a gist of what UI/UX is basically and what it stands for. UI stands for User interface whilst UX stands for User Experience. UI defines how an app looks and interacts with the user whilst UX defines how an app feels from the user’s point of view. For an app to work efficiently and fulfill its objectives, both UI and UX play an important role in the development of such applications. Let’s learn a bit more about them.

What is User Interface (UI)?

User Interface also known as UI is a highly important and the most basic part when it comes to mobile application design and development. It is more often associated to the design phase but its importance I no lesser in development phase too.

Let’s consider the role of user interface as far as design of mobile application is concerned. So what is design and how it relates to user interface? Designing a mobile application is not just only about the usage of aesthetic elements, modern themes, fancy typography and appealing color schemes neither it’s only about everything looking nice and beautiful on the mobile screen. It’s all about how everything gels up together with each other in regards to the functioning of the app and thereby boosting user engagement, increasing the user retention and improving the recognition of brand or product ultimately leading to greater heights of success and revenue. The purpose of the user interface should satisfy the basic as well as serve the advanced needs of the end users.

Interfaces are Faces. They create identities. They trigger emotions. Good Interfaces creates a beautiful user experience. User interface is all about those pixel obsessed designers who thoughtfully select typography, colors and images, define grids and padding – all in order to create a user interface that communicates your identity. A good interface reflects the identity of brand and the brand value.

What is User Experience (UX)?

User Experience, also known as UX, is what the user feels about the app. So when it comes to designing of mobile application and defining the navigational flow, UX always has higher priority than UI.

User experience includes every aspect of users’ interaction with the app. The fundamental idea of an efficient UX is to earn the trust and gain the confidence of the users by developing a simple yet usable app and thereby leaving the users satisfied. A good UX designer or better we say UX engineer is the one who has an exact knowledge, after an extensive research, on target audience, industry niche and user demands along with current and future market trends. It’s more about an upgraded version of UI and design and enhancing the focus more on usability and interaction.

As now as we have taken a dive into the splash of UI and UX, let’s explore more about them and understand their role in a bit broader concept in the success and life cycle of a mobile application. A flawless usage guarantees a striking user experience. A great user interfaces goes much deeper than pretty pixels. Interfaces should be delightful and intuitive to use. A well-executed UX exposes and helps to diagnose the design challenges before they become problems.

A striking user interface and intuitive user experience assures a flawless usage of the app, one of the highly required and basic parameter for defining the success of a mobile application. A good UI and UX provide the users with top-notch user experience in terms of navigation, look and feel. Let’s take a brief on the important aspects and elements for designing a compelling user interface and outstanding user experience.
